Reborn for solo Cello (2024)

  • ca. 6 minutes

  • Life is filled with challenges and failures, but every downfall also carries the seed of a new beginning. By embracing the concept of rebirth, we can learn to see setbacks as opportunities for growth rather than endpoints. It is a process of leaving the old behind and embracing new possibilities with openness and courage.

In this cycle, we find the meaning of our existence, not in stagnation, but in constant change. Rebirth reminds us that no state is permanent, and that we have the power to reshape our lives through our choices and actions. It is a tribute to humanity's capacity to renew itself and the world around it. By accepting and integrating this principle, we can achieve a deeper understanding of our own potential and the eternal quest for harmony and balance.

Ultimately, Reborn is a reminder that in every end lies a beginning, and that every beginning carries the promise of something greater.

Den digitala drömmen for mixed voice (2023)

  • Lyric

    Digital.
    Jag lever för dig.

Pixlar dansar, drömmar syns, jag är fångad av en skärm. Digital.

Sveper, scrollar i en digital dröm. Surfar på vågor i ett pixlat hav.

Filmar, poserar, likes är allt jag vill ha. Visar upp mig, lever bekymmerfritt liv.

    Perfektion, i en idyllisk bur,
    men under ytan vilar sanningen.

Pixlar dansar i världens kaos, ondskan fångar mig.

Sveper, scrollar, låt vår kraft stå emot. Enar, föreningar, låt oss sjunga vår sång.

    La di da di da...

    Du som ger mig längtan
i nattens tysta smyger du, ditt hjärtslag hörs i mörkret.

Dina hjärtslag går rakt in i mig, vibrationer känns inom mig, och ger mig drömmar.

  • Dedicated to my grandmother Märta (1930-2023) financed by STIM

March 16 2023 my grandmother Märta let go of life.
She was 92 years old and loved life.
She was hospitalised the last weeks of her life and we visited her every day. In the penultimate week, she clung to life. She wanted to keep living.
On the night of her death, when no relatives were at her side,
she seized the opportunity and let go.

The piece is based on a traditional folk song.

Flyg över land och sjö, flyg väst om skogarne! Där drill tranorne, där flyger svalorna.
Där är det vackert mindsommar väder.

    - Traditional lullaby from Dalarna, Sweden.

  • Undressed on a hospital bed and goosebumps on my skin. A white figure is talking but I' m on my way away. Sentences spin more slowly with each passing day. Blurred thoughts are mixed with clear thoughts.

I’ ve forgotten how to laugh.
Once, I got a card from my teacher that said " Never stop laughing? " . It cannot be me. I' m not laughing anymore.
    I want to laugh. Why can’t I?

This piece is about mental illness. About living with the illness and the brain ghosts. About learning to live with them and hoping to get well one day.

History repeats itself for piano (2022)

  • 12 minutes

  • Premiered 2022-05-19 at Julius Hus, Stockholm. Klara Andersson, piano.

  • History Repeats Itself is a piece for piano which is composed with the principle "music on music". I have taken inspiration from the Swedish hymn "Ädla skuggor, vördade fäder" and used fragments of the melody.

The title of the piece is named after the questions:
Why do we repeat mistakes someone else has already made and why do we have to learn from our own?

"Ädla skuggor, vördade fäder" is a hymn from the Swedish Opera Gustaf Wasa composed by Johann Gottlieb Naumann (1741-1801).
Gustaf Wasa is a Swedish "national opera" in three acts, with music by Johann Gottlieb Naumann and with libretto by Johan Henric Kellgren, after King Gustav III's original idea.
It was premiered in Stockholm1786, with decor by Louis Jean Desprez.
